Role profile

The Marketing and Media Assistant is a unique opportunity for recent graduates of Abertay University to gain hands-on experience at Scotland’s design museum in Dundee. The role supports the marketing, content and media functions to gain a solid grounding in all aspects of marketing and communications.

You’ll promote V&A Dundee as a must-see international visitor attraction, help build strong brand profile and support income generation by driving visits to exhibitions, events, shop and Tatha Bar & Kitchen.

Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing

  • Support the delivery of marketing campaigns including the promotion of exhibitions to reach audience and income targets

  • Support monthly What’s On promotional activity, including e-news campaigns and regular updates of local and national listings

  • Create and optimise webpages to enhance the visitor journey and drive ticket sales

  • Monitor and evaluate digital performance against KPIs, helping iterate and improve campaigns based on learnings

  • Coordinate the delivery and distribution of marketing assets, working with external designers, creative agencies, sponsors and partners

  • Coordinate print delivery, including museum maps, with external printers and distribution houses

  • Manage internal signage for day-to-day museum requirements

  • Co-ordinate Freshers promotional activity to ensure V&A Dundee is effectively promoted to the city’s student population from the start of the academic year

  • Manage the delivery and administration of image and footage licensing for paid exhibitions

Communications and media

  • Support with the promotion of exhibitions and activities across the museum, including supporting the Communications team in preparing for media launches and photo calls and working with journalists, designers and external partners

  • Help develop creative ideas to promote V&A Dundee, including for news stories, feature ideas and broadcast (TV and radio)

  • Monitor the press inbox, responding to journalists’ requests

  • Support photography and filming opportunities, working with external production teams

  • Support with the management of digital assets, including photography and film delivered by external suppliers

  • Coordinate media coverage reporting, to allow the impact of media coverage to be shared internally

Administrative support

  • Support the effective running of the department by co-ordinating meetings, diary management and other duties as required

  • Support team members with administrative arrangements for events, presentations and media opportunities

  • Support the effective management of departmental budgets including tracking spend, raising invoices, and consolidating credit card statements, while adhering to company processes

Person specification

Essential

  • Recent graduate of Abertay University, graduating between 2022 and 2025

  • Academic study/work experience/professional experience relevant to this role

  • Strong interest in digital marketing and media landscape

  • Clear communication skills

  • Ability to manage priorities and work to deadlines

  • Positive attitude and willingness to work hard

  • An ability to work confidentially, handling sensitive information

  • Interest in design, culture and the arts

Desirable

  • Ability to write standout, engaging copy

  • Creative approach to problem solving

This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week working in a hybrid flexible environment with a mixture of home working and working from our museum in Dundee.
